Chasing Cultural Storms Together
May 28, 2009
I’ve never thought of myself as a storm chaser. In fact, my husband would probably call me a storm coward – that thunder cracks and I’m in the bathroom assuming the tornado drill position I learned in the first grade. Little did I know that was all about to change…
It’s an average Monday when I’m typing away at my desk and hear a knock on my cube. It’s Brian Newberry saying, “How would you like to become a Northlich ‘storm chaser?’” As images of Flying Cows float through my head – I breathe deeply and listen to what he has to say.
Come to find out he wasn’t talking about tornadoes or hurricanes. He was referring to cultural storms – a collection of trends that have been catalyzed by external social, economic or cultural factors. These cultural storms can be even more life-changing than anything Mother Nature can brew up. They have the power to make or break a brand and to change its destiny forever.
Sounds scary, but it doesn’t have to be.
By tracking, monitoring and assessing cultural storms like Frugality 2.0, Obesity and Sustainability we can provide our clients and prospects with actionable ways to survive the storm (or even maximize opportunities created by the storm).
If your company or brand is facing a cultural storm, it’s not too late to take action. The truth is, the brands that are prepared for the road ahead, often times come out the other end seeing a positive shift in brand perceptions, a heightened sense of brand preference and a change in consumer behavior that will last from generation to generation.
If you are interested in learning more about Frugality 2.0, Obesity or Sustainability continue following this blog, or give us a call. The sooner you act the sooner we can help. After all, we are all in this together.
