Classes You Won’t Want to Skip
May 20, 2009
In advising several health and wellness clients on social media, I’ve come to love the SMUG website. It was created by Lee Aase, the social media manager at the Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis (and no, he’s not smug.) SMUG stands for Social Media University, Global. I am fairly certain he added the “global” so the acronym would work.
For anyone who is just starting out in social media and trying to understand the basics, this is a must-visit website. Beyond the running blog about social media, Aase has created a series of simple, hands-on training classes in social media. They are free classes that are humorous and interesting. Best of all, for the busy professional, they are very short and to the point.
Aase’s background is health care, so for those in health care, this is particularly interesting. But, his lessons apply equally to all industries. I highly recommend this as Friday afternoon reading.
Here’s one particularly good blog entry for those in health care.
