Left-Handed Leadership
May 8, 2009
It sometimes amazes me that being left-handed is still a subject of conversation. But it occurred to me that something that happened as a result of being left-handed has affected how I approach things.
When I was young, being left-handed was something that teachers — and even my parents — tried to “correct.” They didn’t succeed. As I was thinking about it, I realized that innate traits are not something that you can — or even should try to change. Many a management book has said this, but it’s a value I espouse in my own leadership: Work with people’s strongest assets, celebrate who they are, and you’ll be rewarded with people acting from positions of strength.

Kathy –
Just read your article in the Business Courier. Interesting read. Shows your mettle. Keep up the GREAT job!
Hey, I don’t have Mike’s e-mail address in my database for some strange reason, so please let him know I am still looking forward to breaking bread when the opportunity is right.
