Ohio Lotto’s “Cash Explosion” bursts with genuine emotion.
June 4, 2009
In an era where “game shows” feature train-wreck pseudo celebs and cut-throat back stabbing, our newest client, the Ohio Lottery, hosts a TV game show where the entertainment lies in watching *real* real people – in all their genuine realness.
Yesterday, the Northlich team watched a taping of this show, “Cash Explosion” and joined the live studio audience.
One contestant’s hobbies included “sitting in his favorite chair.” Another constant wasn’t hoping to win enough to buy a dream house, just enough to take some of his buddies to Vegas.
Titillating? No. But so authentic, you can’t help but relate to them.
And then there was Patricia.
Patricia is a retired school teacher. Soft spoken and unassuming, she was the show’s big winner, taking home $75,000.
The studio audience went nuts. But Patricia didn’t. No screaming and yelling; no jumping up and down.
Instead she silently teared up, overwhelmed with emotion.
And in watching her, I got a little choked up, too.
Behold. The power of authenticity. The power of real reality.
See it for yourself. “Our” episode of Cash Explosion airs at 7:30 pm on Saturday, June 13.
