Recent Year of Lift Initiatives

The Northlich Year of Lift continues! (Need a reminder about why we’re doing this? Check out this blog post.) In the past few months, Northlichers have banded together to help babies, pets, those struggling with addiction, and more. Check out our recent initiatives, and if you feel inspired, spread a little more kindness into the world by making a contribution of your own to the causes we’re supporting!

July: Diaper Drive

Inspired by our work for the Kroger brand Comforts, we decided in July to collect diapers to donate to the Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank. Every day, one in three families in America struggles to afford diapers for their children. Diapers are critical for keeping babies clean, dry and healthy, and the lack of a sufficient supply to meet this need is an unfortunate reality both locally and nationally. The Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank partners with local social-service agencies to provide diapers to low-income families while raising awareness of the basic health need for diapers.

August: Center for Addiction Treatment

Northlich supports the Center for Addiction Treatment (CAT) with PR initiatives, media announcements, press releases and targeted marketing efforts to position CAT as a preferred provider of addiction care with expertise in opioid-abuse treatment. CAT makes recovery attainable for any patient by offering local, affordable access to care. (Want proof the program works? Check out some testimonials.)

In August, Northlich hosted an employee drive to raise materials for program participants. Patients often enter treatment with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. They come to CAT hoping for a new life, and they can use a little help. Northlich employees donated clothing, journals, art supplies, books and movies, and board games.

September: Save the Animals Foundation

Because pets are near and dear to our hearts (check out our work for the Joanie Bernard Foundation and Luvsome, and meet our Chief Morale Officer, Charlie!), Northlich chose to support the Save the Animals Foundation (STAF) in September. Several employees have adopted pets from the STAF shelter, which is funded entirely by donations and operated solely by volunteers. The shelter houses over 600 dogs and cats, many of whom have been abused or abandoned.

Employees downloaded and used the Walk for a Dog app to log our walks and miles in support of STAF. The Walk for a Dog app divides funds raised for each donation period among shelters and rescues based on the number of people actively walking for each organization. In September, Northlichers logged 125 walks and 130 miles walked. We rewarded the person with the most walks and the person who logged the most miles with gift cards. One of our walkers walked 32 times, and another logged more than 50 miles!

October: United Way

For many years, Northlich has supported the United Way with an annual fundraising campaign. United Way works to improve the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community by pooling efforts in fundraising and support. United Way's ongoing goal is to identify and resolve pressing community issues and to make measurable positive change through partnerships with schools, government agencies, businesses and others.

Northlich employees can allocate their United Way donation to an organization of their choice. A few that stand out include Women Investing in the Next Generation (WINGS) and United Way LINC. Giving to the United Way supports charities in many sectors, including health, financial stability, education and more. Our employees are thoughtful about making choices where they believe an impact can be made. Northlich’s owner, president and CEO, Kathy, is so committed to the cause that she offers employees a day off with pay when everyone participates in the annual drive. October marked the 10th year in a row that Northlich had 100 percent employee participation in this fundraiser, and employees will have President’s Day off next year.
